Since making her T20I debut against arch-rivals Australia in October 2006, Sophie Devine has slammed 113 sixes in 138 matches to record the most sixes in women’s T20 internationals.

West Indies women's cricket team all-rounder Deandra Dottin features second on the list for the most sixes in women’s T20 internationals. Deandra Dottin has hit 105 sixes in 128 matches.

Chamari Athapaththu is third on the list for the most sixes in women’s T20 internationals. The Sri Lanka women’s cricket team captain has clobbered 88 sixes in 141 matches.

Among Indian cricketers, captain Harmanpreet Kaur has hit the most sixes in women’s T20 internationals. The right-handed batter has slammed 76 maximums in 174 matches so far.

Sophie Devine holds the record for the most sixes in women’s T20 internationals. Between 2006 and 2024, Sophie Devine smashed 113 maximums in women’s T20 international cricket. The swashbuckling right-handed batter has also slammed 69 sixes in 147 matches in women’s one-day internationals (ODIs).

Deandra Dottin | 105 T20I sixes

Deandra Dottin is the only other cricketer to slam 100 sixes in women’s T20 internationals. Having represented West Indies and Barbados in international cricket, Deandra Dottin has smashed 105 sixes in 128 matches. Deandra Dottin also holds the record for the most sixes in women’s ODIs, having clobbered 89 sixes in 143 matches between 2008 and 2022.

Chamari Athapaththu | 88 T20I sixes

Chamari Athapaththu has slammed 88 sixes in women’s T20 international cricket, the third-most in history. Between 2009 and 2024,Chamari Athapaththu has been a consistent performer for the Sri Lanka women’s cricket team in white-ball cricket. She has also hit 56 maximums in 107 women’s ODIs.

Harmanpreet Kaur | 76 T20I sixes

One of the most destructive T20 batters in women’s cricket, India’s Harmanpreet Kaur features fourth on the list for most sixes in women’s T20 internationals. Since making her T20I debut against England in Taunton in June 2009, Harmanpreet Kaur has smashed 76 T20I sixes in 174 matches. Furthermore, the middle-order batter has slammed 49 maximums in women’s ODI cricket.

Smriti Mandhana | 68 T20I sixes

India’s Smriti Mandhana completes the top five list for most sixes in women’s T20 internationals. One of the leading cricketers in women’s cricket, Smriti Mandhana has smashed 68 T20I sixes in 142 matches between 2013 and 2024. The southpaw has also slammed 39 sixes in the 50-over format.

The first T20I in women’s cricket was played between England and New Zealand in August 2004, more than six months before the first men’s T20I between Australia and New Zealand in February 2005.

But the first five years saw only 20 T20Is being played between women’s teams. The first T20 World Cup for Women in 2009, held in England, brought about a gradual change to this scenario as the teams played a total of 30 T20Is in a single year.

From then on women’s cricket has seen a rise in the number of T20Is being played. A total of eight T20 World Cups have been played among the women's teams before the 2024 edition with Australia winning six of them. England and West Indies have won the title once each.

With more matches being played at the international level and domestic T20 leagues being introduced, the women started mastering the shortest form of the game. Power hitting, innovations and all the traits of batting developed in the women’s game too.

Batters caught up with the trend quickly and started making high scores consistently and also at improved strike rates. Teams gave more emphasis to power-hitting and the entertaining cameos made their way similar to the men’s game.

Teams based their strategies around power hitters who could go out and smash from ball one. This has seen teams slowly but steadily achieving higher scores in T20Is. All-rounders are also coming to the fore to increase the balance and depth of teams, which is a must in the shorter format of the game.

Suzie Bates | 4461 runs

Suzie Bates of New Zealand leads the charts for most runs in T20I cricket among women. She has a tally of 4461 runs from 163 visits to the crease at a healthy average of 29.54 and a strike rate of 109.01.

Bates, who made her T20I debut for New Zealand in 2007, has 29 scores of fifty or more in the shortest format that also includes a century. Her only century in T20Is came against South Africa Women in a tri-nation series match at Taunton in June 2018. 

Incidentally, that match also saw New Zealand notch their highest aggregate of 216/1 in T20Is. Bates smashed 16 fours and three sixes to top-score with an unbeaten 124 off just 66 balls in the match that the Kiwis won comfortably by 66 runs.

Smriti Mandhana | 3505 runs

India’s Smriti Mandhana is second on the list of highest run-getters in women’s T20Is. The southpaw has accumulated 3505 runs from 142 matches at an average of 28.72 and an impressive strike rate of 122.38.

Smriti, who made her T20I debut against Bangladesh in April 2013, has scored a total of 26 fifties in T20Is. Her best individual score came against Ireland Women in the 2023 T20 World Cup at Gqeberha. 

She smashed a 56-ball 87 which included nine fours and three sixes. She finished as the top-scorer in that match which India won by five runs and was also adjudged the Player of the Match.

Harmanpreet Kaur | 3441 runs

Current Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur comes next on the list with a tally of 3441 runs from 174 matches at an average of 27.97 and a strike rate of 107.32. 

Harmanpreet, who made her international debut against England Women in June 2009, is the only Indian cricketer, and sixth overall, to have made an appearance in all T20 World Cups from the inaugural edition in 2009 till 2024.

The middle-order batter has a century and 12 fifties to her name with her best knock of 103 coming against New Zealand in the 2018 T20 World Cup. The whirlwind knock, which came in just 51 balls, had seven fours and eight sixes and helped India beat the Kiwis by 34 runs in the group-stage match. 

Meg Lanning | 3405 runs

Former Australian captain and multiple World Cup winner Meg Lanning is fourth on the list of highest run-getters in women’s T20Is. She amassed 3405 runs from 132 matches at an excellent average of 36.61 and a strike rate of 116.37.

Lanning, who is also Australia’s top run-getter in T20Is, has two hundreds and 15 fifties to her name with her best individual score coming against arch-rivals England in July 2019. 

Lanning smashed a 51-ball century en route to remain unbeaten on 133 off 63 balls. Her innings was studded with 17 fours and four sixes and powered Australia to their highest aggregate in T20Is, 226/3 in 20 overs.

Stafanie Taylor | 3382 runs

West Indies�?T20 World Cup-winning captain Stafanie Taylor is fifth on the list with 3382 runs from 122 matches at an impressive average of 35.60 and a strike rate of 100.86.

Stafanie announced her arrival in T20Is in style with her best knock coming in that match against Ireland Women in June 2008. She smashed a 49-ball 90, which included 12 fours and two sixes, to power West Indies home by 75 runs in the contest. 

Stafanie has a tally of 22 fifties in T20Is and played a key role in West Indies�?only T20 World Cup win in 2016. She led from the front with a tally of 246 runs, the highest in that edition by any batter, and also picked up eight wickets and was adjudged the Player of the Tournament.

Legendary Australian cricketer Meg Lanning holds the record for the most centuries in women’s ODI cricket.

Having made her One-Day International (ODI) debut against arch-rivals England in 2011, Meg Lanning slammed a record 15 hundreds in the 50-over format in women’s cricket.

New Zealand’s Suzie Bates has the second most-centuries in women’s ODI cricket. The swashbuckling right-handed batter has already smashed 13 tons in 50-over cricket. 

The likes of Nat Sciver-Brunt, Chamari Athapaththu, Tammy Beaumont and Charlotte Edwards have the third-most centuries in women’s ODI cricket. All four cricketers have registered nine centuries each in women cricket’s ODI format. Know the cricketers with the most centuries in women’s ODI cricket.

Meg Lanning | 15 WODI centuries

Former Australia captain Meg Lanning holds the record for the most centuries in women’s ODI cricket. Nicknamed “the Megastar�? Meg Lanning ended her illustrious career with 15 hundreds in women’s ODI format. Between 2011 and 2023, Meg Lanning scored 4,602 runs in 103 matches at an average of 53.51 and a strike rate of 92.20. She also registered 21 half-centuries for Australia in women’s 50-over international cricket. 

Suzie Bates | 13 WODI centuries

New Zealand’s star cricketer Suzie Bates features second on the elite list of most centuries in women’s ODI cricket. Since making her ODI debut against India in March 2006, Suzie Bates has slammed 13 hundreds for the White Ferns in women’s ODI format. The former New Zealand captain is currently the third-highest run-getter in WODI format only behind retired duo of India’s Mithali Raj and England’s Charlotte Edwards. She has amassed 5,673 runs in 160 WODIs at an average of 41.10 and a strike rate of 80.21.

Nat Sciver-Brunt, Chamari Athapaththu, Tammy Beaumont, Charlotte Edwards | 9 WODI centuries

England’s accomplished all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt has jumped to the third spot in list for the most centuries in women’s ODI cricket alongside Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu, England’s duo of Tammy Beaumont and Charlotte Edwards. Nat Sciver-Brunt has now registered nine hundreds in women’s ODI cricket equalling the record with Athapaththu, Beaumont and Edwards. Between 2013 and 2024, Sciver-Brunt scored 3,598 runs in 106 matches at an average of 46.72 and an impressive strike rate of 95.81.

The Arun Jaitley Stadium is one of the world's oldest cricket grounds located in New Delhi.

Earlier named as the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, the cricket ground was established in 1883. It is India’s second oldest functional international cricket stadium after the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Located on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in Delhi, the stadium was renamed to Arun Jaitley Stadium in September 2019 in memory of former Finance Minister of India and former Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Arun Jaitley. It has a seating capacity of around 35,000.

The Arun Jaitley Stadium hosted its first international match, a Test between India and West Indies in November 1948. 

The Delhi cricket stadium staged its first women’s international match in November 1974 when the India women’s cricket team played a Test against West Indies. The fixture ended in a draw.

It later staged its first women’s ODI played between India and New Zealand in February 1985.

In March 2016, the Arun Jaitley Stadium staged its first women’s T20 international during the World T20 that featured Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Led by Suzie Bates, New Zealand won the game by seven wickets.

During the Women’s World T20 semi-final clash in 2016, the Meg Lanning-led Australia posted 132/6 in their 20 overs against arch-rivals England. Meg Lanning led from the front with a 50-ball 55 along with Alyssa Healy’s 25 off 15 balls to help Australia register the highest women’s T20 total at the venue. Australia later restricted England Women to 127/7 in their allotted overs to win the game by five runs. 

Lowest team total

The Baroda women's cricket team recorded the lowest team total at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in women’s T20s. Chasing 89, Baroda were bundled out for 44 in 16.4 overs against Gujarat during a Senior Women’s T20 League clash in 2017. Interestingly, not a single batter managed to reach double digit as Baroda captain P A Patel top-scored with eight runs. For Gujarat, Renuka Chaudhari was the wrecker-in-chief with three wickets. Gujarat won the game by 44 runs.

Former Australia captain Meg Lanning has scored the most runs at this venue in women’s T20 cricket. The stylish right-handed batter has amassed 119 runs in three matches at an average of 59.50 and a strike rate of 107.20. She has also slammed two fifties in the WT20 format on this ground. Lanning’s former teammate Elyse Villani is second on the list with 115 runs in three T20 matches on this ground.

Most wickets

Australia’s Megan Schutt has picked up the most wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in women’s T20I cricket. The right-arm fast bowler has scalped seven wickets in three matches at an average of 9.85 and an economy of 5.75. In domestic cricket, Gujarat’s Renuka Chaudhari has the most wickets in women’s T20 cricket. Chaudhari has bagged eight wickets in four matches.

Highest individual score

Karnataka’s Vellaswamy Vanitha registered the highest individual score at this venue in the women’s T20 format. Opening the batting, the former right-handed batter scored 61 not out off 52 balls against Gujarat during a Senior Women’s T20 League encounter in 2017. Vanitha’s magnificent knock helped her side chase down 113 in 16.3 overs as Karnataka won the game by nine wickets. Vanitha’s match-winning knock was laced with six fours and one six. Meg Lanning’s unbeaten 56 off 49 balls against Sri Lanka is the highest individual score at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in women’s T20I cricket. 

Best bowling figures

Baroda’s Tarannum Pathan recorded the best bowling figures at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in women’s T20 cricket. During a Senior Women’s T20 League clash in 2017, the right-arm off-spinner registered match-winning figures of 4/3 against Rajasthan. Tarannum Pathan dismissed Sampa Mukherjee, SL Meena, J U Bijarnya and SP Kumawat to bowl out Rajasthan for 61 in 19.4 overs. Baroda later successfully chased down the target with seven wickets in hand.

Highest partnership

Pakistan’s Sidra Ameen and Bismah Maroof hold the record for the highest partnership at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in women’s T20s. Chasing 114, Sidra Ameen and Bismah Maroof forged an unbeaten 99-run stand for the second wicket against Bangladesh Women in a Women's World T20 group encounter in 2016. Ameen scored 53 not out while Maroof remained unbeaten on 43 to guide Pakistan to a nine-wicket win in Delhi.

The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India, is one of the most iconic cricket stadiums in the world. 

Established in 1974, the Wankhede Stadium is owned and operated by Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).

Situated near Marine Drive in the Churchgate neighbourhood of Mumbai, the cricket ground has a seating capacity of around 32,000.

The stadium was built after disputes between the Cricket Club of India (CCI) and MCA over the allocation of tickets for cricket matches.

It is the home ground of the Mumbai team in domestic cricket and the Mumbai franchise in the Indian T20 League. 

The Wankhede Stadium staged its first international fixture, a Test match played between hosts India and West Indies, in January 1975. Led by Clive Lloyd, West Indies won by 201 runs.

Since then, it has hosted several high profile cricket matches including the ICC ODI World Cup 2011 final.

The Wankhede Stadium hosted its first women’s international match in February 1984 when the India women’s cricket team played a Test against Australia. The fixture ended in a draw.

It later staged its first women’s ODI played between New Zealand and Ireland during the Women’s World Cup in 1997.

The India women’s cricket team recorded the lowest team total at the Wankhede Stadium in women’s ODIs. Chasing 301, the Anjum Chopra-led India were bowled out for 79 in 27.1 overs as the hosts suffered a 221-run defeat. Mithali Raj top-scored for India with 30 while wicketkeeper-batter Sulakshana Naik added 17. For Australia, Ellyse Perry was the wrecker-in-chief with five wickets for just 19 runs. Rachael Haynes bagged three wickets for the Aussies.

India’s star batter Smriti Mandhana has scored the most runs at this venue in women’s ODI cricket. The stylish left-handed batter has amassed 153 runs in three matches at an average of 51 and a strike rate of 80.52. She has slammed two fifties in the WODI format on this ground. Former Australia cricketer Meg Lanning is second on the list with 139 runs in two ODI matches on this ground.

India’s Shikha Pandey and Jhulan Goswami have picked up the most wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in women’s ODI cricket. Meg Lanning and  Alex Blackwell forged a brilliant 180-run stand for the third wicket against India in the second ODI in 2012. Lanning hammered 128 while Blackwell scored 81 to power Australia to 300/7 in their 50 overs. The visitors won the match by 221 runs.

Australia women's national cricket team captain Meg Lanning announced her retirement from all forms of international cricket with immediate effect.

Meg Lanning represented Australia in six Tests, 103 one-day internationals and 132 Twenty20 internationals. The 31-year-old is likely to continue playing domestic cricket in Australia and possibly India.

In her career spanning almost 13 years, Lanning retired from international cricket with seven World Cup titles, five of which are ICC Women's T20 World Cups and two ICC Women's ODI World Cups.

The Singapore-born cricketer amassed 8,352 runs in 241 matches since making her international debut against New Zealand in a T20I in December 2010. She slammed 17 hundreds and 38 half-centuries in her illustrious career.

“The decision to step away from international cricket was a difficult one to make, but I feel now is the right time for me,�?Lanning said in a statement.

“I’ve been incredibly fortunate to enjoy a 13-year international career,�?she added.

Winning most ICC Women's T20 World Cups as captain: Meg Lanning is the current record holder for winning the most Women’s T20 World Cup titles as captain. She guided Australia to four Women's T20 World Cup titles - the most by any captain in men’s as well as women’s cricket. Overall, Lanning won five Women's T20 World Cup titles, the joint second-most with compatriot Ellyse Perry. Only wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy has more, having won six of them.

Most wins as captain across formats in women’s cricket: Meg Lanning holds the record for the most wins as captain across formats in women’s cricket with 146 victories. As many as 76 of them came in T20I cricket. 

Most matches as captain in Women’s T20Is: Meg Lanning currently shares record with India’s Harmanpreet Kaur for most matches as captain in WT20Is. Both Lanning and Harmanpreet have captained in 100 WT20Is so far. Lanning also has the better winning percentage as captain in Women’s T20Is, having led Australia to 76 wins in 100 T20Is.

Most consecutive wins in Women’s ODIs as captain: Meg Lanning led Australia to 24 consecutive victories in Women’s ODI cricket between March 2018 and September 2021. 

Second-most consecutive wins in Women’s T20Is as captain: Under Meg Lanning, Australia won 16 consecutive matches in women’s T20I cricket between March 25, 2014 and August 22, 2015, a world record at that time which was later surpassed by Thailand Women with 17 consecutive victories.

Most hundreds in Women’s ODIs: Meg Lanning holds the record for scoring most hundreds in Women’s ODIs. Lanning slammed 15 hundreds in 103 WODIs, while New Zealand’s Suzie Bates is second on the list with 12 centuries. She also has the record for slamming most hundreds in WODI run-chases, having recorded 10 centuries. New Zealand’s Amy Satterthwaite is distant second with five on the tons in chases list. Overall, Lanning has the most hundreds in women’s cricket with 17 tons. Bates and Charlotte Edwards have 13 each.

Best average in women’s ODIs: Meg Lanning’s 53.51 is the best batting average in women’s ODI cricket. Her strike rate of 92.20 is the fifth best in the women's ODIs.

Fastest century in WODIs: Meg Lanning recorded the fastest century in women’s ODI cricket. The right-handed batter took just 45 balls to register her hundred against New Zealand at the North Sydney Oval in 2012.

Second-highest runs in Women’s T20Is: Meg Lanning is currently the second-highest run-scorer in women’s T20I cricket. Lanning accumulated 3,405 runs in 132 matches at an average of 36.61. Only Suzie Bates has more runs in WT20s with 4,021 runs in 149 matches.

Youngest player to score a century for Australia in international cricket: Meg Lanning still holds the record for being the youngest cricketer to slam a hundred for Australia in international cricket. At 18 years and 288 days, Lanning scored an unbeaten 104 against England in Perth ODI in 2011. She smashed her maiden WODI hundred in just her second match.

Cricket makes an entry to the Commonwealth Games for the first time in 24 years since a List A men’s tournament was held in the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The women’s cricket T20 competition will make its debut in the prestigious multi-sport event. 

Ahead of the first match of the competition, Harmanpreet Kaur-led India suffered a massive blow as two of their cricketers have tested positive for COVID-19 and had to stay back in India.

All-rounder Pooja Vastrakar and batter Sabbhineni Meghana tested COVID positive before the Indian team departed for Birmingham.

However, the Indian team will head into the tournament brimming with confidence after clinching the recently-concluded three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka 2-1.

On the other hand, Meg Lanning will lead the 15-member Australia women’s cricket team squad at CWG 2022.

Meanwhile, the reigning T20 world champions also have few injury concerns and will miss the services of Tayla Vlaeminck, Georgia Wareham and Sophie Molineux.

Ahead of CWG 2022, gold medal favourites Australia recently hammered hosts Ireland in both the matches in the Women’s T20I Summer Series while their fixtures against Pakistan were abandoned due to rain.

Australian cricketer Belinda Clark holds the record for the most runs in a calendar year in women’s ODIs.

The former Australia women’s cricket team captain etched her name in the history books after scoring 970 runs in just 16 ODI matches in the 1997 calendar year. She scored three hundreds and four half-centuries that year and boasted a staggering average of 80.83.

Almost a quarter of that (970) runs came against Denmark during the 1997 Women’s World Cup in Mumbai. Clark smashed an unbeaten 229 off just 155 balls against Denmark in the group stage to record what was the highest individual score in Women’s ODI cricket at that time. The record was later broken by New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr after she scored 232 not out against Ireland in Dublin back in 2018.

Clark was a prolific run-scorer in Women’s ODI cricket as she also accumulated 842 runs in a calendar year in 2000 - the fifth-best tally on the all-time list. In that year, Clark scored 842 runs in 16 ODIs at an impressive average of 76.54. She had one century and six fifties to her name.

South Africa star cricketer Laura Wolvaardt is second on the all-time list for most runs in a calendar year in women’s ODIs. The swashbuckling opening batter has currently scored 882 runs in a calendar year in 2022. Wolvaardt has been in the best form of her life, amassing 882 runs in 18 matches at an average of 49. She has hit one hundred and eight fifties in 2022 so far. Wolvaardt needs another 89 runs to surpass the record of Belinda Clark.

Legendary New Zealand cricketer Debbie Hockley is third on the list. The former Kiwi batter scored 880 runs in 1997. Hockley accumulated the tally in 16 ODIs at an average of 62.85. She registered two tons and six fifties.

Former New Zealand cricketer Amy Satterthwaite features fourth on the list. The former vice-captain of New Zealand women’s cricket team scored 853 runs in a calendar year in 2016. Satterthwaite amassed those runs in just 15 matches at an average of 85.30. She smashed three hundreds and four half-centuries in Women’s ODI cricket in 2016.

Mithali Raj and Deepti Sharma are the two Indian cricketers who have amassed more than 700 runs in a calendar year. Both, curiously, achieved the feat in 2017. While Deepti amassed 787 runs in 20 ODIs at an average of 49.18, former India captain Mithali Raj scored 783 runs in 19 matches at an average of 71.18.

Retired England cricketer Claire Taylor (807 runs) in 2005, star Australia duo of Meg Lanning (761 runs) and Ellse Perry (732 runs), both in 2016, complete the top 10.

India women will lock horns with six-time winners Australia women in their fifth match of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2022 at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand on Saturday, March 19. The match will begin from 6:30 AM IST.

The Mithali Raj-led India will look to bounce back after suffering a four-wicket defeat against defending champions England women in a low-scoring encounter at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Wednesday.
