Liverpool claimed another win as they defeat Everton on April 2, 2025, at the Anfield. With the efforts of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz, Liverpool claimed the only score of the EPL game.

The first half began with a controversy in the 11th minute as Everton’s James Tarkowski received a yellow card after an ‘unintentional tackle?on Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister. The match started intensely, but Liverpool controlled of the field for the most part. However, the Toffees' back line proved harder to breach.

Everton’s defensive line, composed of Jake O'Brien, Vitaliy Mykolenko, James Tarkowski, and Jarrad Branthwaite,?was difficult to infiltrate, yet a few attacks from the Reds managed to penetrate the defence.

The goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, was also vital to the Toffees' defence as he blocked several shots, like Ryan Gravenberch’s attack in the 55th minute. However, the stalemate ended in the 56th minute as Luis Diaz assisted Diogo Jota for a game-ending score.

Liverpool’s morale was boosted, and they kept trying to add another to the already 1-0 score, but Everton was also determined to win. Everton’s desperate players made several attempts to equalise the current score, but despite their efforts, they all failed.

Virgil van Dijk claimed that Abdoulaye Doucoure from Everton stirred up Liverpool fans after a tense Merseyside match turned chaos when James Tarkowski scored a late equaliser. Liverpool was ahead 2-1, poised to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League by nine points in their game on February 12, 2025.

This was until Tarkowski netted in the eighth minute of added time, creating a thrilling finish to the final match at Goodison Park. Doucoure was spotted celebrating in front of Liverpool fans, which led to Curtis Jones pushing him and a brawl between players from both teams.

Referee Michael Oliver showed both Doucoure and Jones their second yellow cards, sending them off. Liverpool’s coach Arne Slot and assistant Sipke Hulshoff were also dismissed.

’We saw how they celebrated the goal, they have all the right to. I think Abdoulaye Doucoure wanted to provoke our fans, I think that is what I saw and Curtis Jones didn't think it was the right thing to do. And then you know what happens if there is a little tussle? Reds captain Van Dijk said.

Van Dijk also believed that the referee struggled to manage the game, which affected both teams because they faced the same challenges. For many, this felt like a cup final. He also noted that the referee played a key role, pointing out that some challenges were called fouls while others were not.

What happened at the end?

After Tarkowski's great late goal tied the match, Doucoure walked over to the away fans and was caught on camera making a shushing sign. Liverpool's substitute Jones stepped in, leading to a big clash between players from both teams. A bottle was also thrown into the mix.

Stewards finally stepped in to break it up, and referee Oliver issued second yellow cards to both Doucoure and Jones. The excitement continued when Liverpool coach Slot and assistant coach Hulshoff received red cards for expressing their thoughts to the refs.

Shortly after Tarkowski’s equaliser, Slot was seen waving his arms to imply there was a foul before the goal. Former Liverpool player Steve McManaman called it ‘silly?for Doucoure to provoke the Liverpool fans.

‘Abdoulaye Doucoure had 37,000 of his own fans to go and celebrate in front of. To go and antagonise the Liverpool fans was a silly decision. It was only going to end one way? McManaman said.

Ex-Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand believes engaging with rival fans isn't wrong. He also shared that in some games, playful teasing happens.

Meanwhile, Everton's coach, David Moyes, felt upset about losing Doucoure in the match against Crystal Palace. He noted that Doucoure had played well before his second yellow card, leading to a red.

Everton (EVE) host Chelsea (CHE) in their opening game of the Premier League 2022-23 season at Goodison Park on Saturday, August 6. The match will start at 10:00 PM IST.

EVE vs CHE Dream11 prediction

Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea will start as favourites against Everton. The Blues have won 27 of the 60 Premier League matches between the two teams.

However, Everton won’t be simple pushovers given their current run of form against Chelsea. The Toffees have won their last four home league games while playing the Blues, and have kept clean sheets in five of their last seven home matches in all competitions.

Everton are unbeaten in the opening games of their last 10 Premier League campaigns but Chelsea will look to put a halt to the run with a convincing win on Saturday.

EVE vs CHE Dream11 team tips for Premier League 2022-23

Top tip: Best forward

Raheem Sterling will be the new face of the Chelsea attack, and fantasy players will be eager to draft him into their respective teams. The England forward, with 109 goals in 320 Premier League games, will begin his Chelsea stint at a price of 9.0 credits.

Top tip: Best midfielder

Demarai Gray is a top pick for this contest. The Everton winger, listed as a midfielder in fantasy football, has netted 15 times in his Premier League career and will hope to open his goal account against Chelsea. Gray - at 9.0 credits - is our recommendation ahead of Chelsea’s Mason Mount.

Top tip: Best defender and goalkeeper

At 8.5 credits, new Chelsea central defender Kalidou Koulibaly is an excellent selection for this match. The Senegal international is known for his rock-solid defensive prowess in the heart of the defensive line and will be tasked with keeping the likes of Dele Ali at bay.

For a goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford should be slightly favoured over Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy. The English stopper will constantly be on his toes to keep the likes of Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling from scoring goals, and he is priced at 8.5 credits.

EVE vs CHE probable playing XI

EVE playing XI (probable): Jordan Pickford (goalkeeper); Nathan Patterson, James Tarkowski, Michael Keane, Ben Godfrey; Vitaliy Mykolenko, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Alex Iwobi; Anthony Gordon, Dele Ali, Dwight McNeil

CHE playing XI (probable): Edouard Mendy (Goalkeeper); Cesar Azpilicueta (captain), Thiago Silva, Kalidou Koulibaly; Reece James, N'Golo Kante, Jorginho, Ben Chilwell; Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Raheem Sterling

The Liverpool vs Everton rivalry is one of the oldest and longest-running derbies in the history of English football.

Since 1894, when the teams first clashed in a League Division One clash at Goodison Park, the Merseyside derby has been a fierce affair on and off the field.

Although Liverpool have been the more dominant side in Merseyside derbies, Everton have had the historic advantage when it comes to most wins by a manager.

William Charles Cuff, who took charge of Everton for over 500 games, holds the record for most derby wins as a manager, with 16 wins over Liverpool from 1901 to 1918.

Liverpool vs Everton: Head-to-head record in all competitions

Liverpool and Everton met for the first time on October 13, 1894 at Goodison Park. Since then, both sides have clashed 291 times across all competitions, with the Reds winning 123 matches and Everton securing 83 victories. Meanwhile, 85 matches have ended in draws.

Liverpool also hold records such as the longest unbeaten derby run in all competitions (23 games, 2011-2020) and longest unbeaten derby run in home matches (22 games, 2000-2020).

On the road, Everton are the more successful side as they recorded a 16-match unbeaten run at Anfield between 1899 and 1920, that included ten victories.

Liverpool host Everton for the 60th Merseyside Derby of the Premier League era at Anfield on Sunday, April 24. The match will kick off at 9:00 PM IST.

LFC are hoping to have forward Roberto Firmino back in the team after the Brazilian missed the 4-0 thumping of Manchester United in the mid-week.

The 30-year-old missed the tie due to a foot injury and Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that there are high chances of him getting involved in the match.

Everton, on the other hand, will be without several first-team regulars. This involves Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Andros Townsend, Tom Davies and Nathan Patterson.

Liverpool vs Everton recent form

Liverpool, fresh off from a 4-0 thumping of Manchester United, have endured a difficult run of fixtures, having faced Manchester United, Manchester City and Benfica (both twice) in their last five matches.

Of these matches, they have knocked Benfica out of the Champions League and while their league match against City ended in a 2-2 draw, they did manage to beat them 3-2 in the FA Cup semi-final.

Everton, on the other hand, have been truly disappointing this season. The team has won just one of their last five matches.

Liverpool vs Everton head-to-head

Since their first-ever meeting in 1894, Liverpool and Everton have played a total of 290 matches across all competitions. During these meetings, Liverpool have won 122 matches while Everton have come out on top on 83 occasions.

As far as the Premier League is concerned, the two have played 59 matches since 1992 where Liverpool have defeated Everton 25 times. The Toffees, on the other hand, have managed just 10 wins.

Liverpool vs Everton prediction and tips for Premier League 2021-22

The fiery encounter between Liverpool and Everton has always produced goals. The last time these two sides met, Mohamed Salah scored a brace while a goal each from Jordan Henderson and Diogo Jota completed a 4-1 routing at Goodison Park.

Liverpool’s ongoing form, coupled with their recent return against Everton makes them the outright favourites to win Sunday’s contest. This pretty much justifies why the odds are in their favour.

Frank Lampard’s Everton are currently placed 17th in the Premier League 2021-22 standings with 25 points from 29 matches and will look to bag maximum points against Manchester United in order to reduce their chances of a top-flight demotion for the first time since 1951.

On the other hand, Manchester United have received a massive boost with the return of their talisman Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash. With 51 points from 30 matches, the Ralf Rangnick-coached outfit is currently placed seventh in the Premier League standings.

Everton (EVE) host neighbours Liverpool (LIV) at Goodison Park in the 59th Merseyside derby in the Premier League in the early hours of Thursday, December 2. The Matchday 14 clash between the two local rivals will kick off at 1:45 AM IST.

EVE vs LIV Dream11 prediction

Although Liverpool haven’t beaten Everton since their 5-2 win in December 2019, the odds are rightly stacked in their favour for Thursday’s fixture. The Reds have lost just one game this season as compared to Everton’s six defeats in 13 league matches.

Furthermore, Jurgen Klopp’s men are averaging three goals per match, having scored 39 goals in 13 league outings - the most by any team in the Premier League this season. Everton, on the other hand, have conceded 20 goals already this season and are without a win in their last seven league games (L5, D2). Come Thursday, we expect Liverpool to emerge victorious even though playing in the hostile atmosphere at Goodison Park won’t be easy.

EVE vs LIV Dream11 team tips for Premier League 2021-22

Top tip: Best forward

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota is in some form this season. Replacing an injured Roberto Firmino in the starting XI, Jota has scored seven goals in 12 league appearances. Three of those seven strikes have come in his last two outings, meaning that he is in fine form and can be an asset to fantasy players at the moment. Given his run of form, we recommend you pick the Portuguese attacker in your fantasy team.

Top tip: Best midfielder

Sadio Mane, registered as a midfielder, has identical stats to that of Jota. Like the Portuguese, Mane has netted seven goals in the Premier League and has provided one assist. Considering his average of 3.2 shots per game and Everton’s frailty in defence, Mane could prove to be a high-scoring pick in your fantasy team.

Top tip: Best defender and goalkeeper

Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold created two chances, completed 50 passes and provided an assist to finish with a tally of 64 fantasy points against Southampton in his last outing. The young full-back has provided three assists in his last two outings and has been a go-to player for fantasy enthusiasts recently.

For a goalkeeper, Everton’s Jordan Pickford would be a better pick than Liverpool’s Alisson Becker. Pickford is likely to be more active of the two, meaning that he will pull off more saves than the Brazilian, which translates to more points for fantasy players who have the Englishman in their team.

EVE vs LIV probable playing XI

EVE playing XI (probable): Jordan Pickford (goalkeeper); Seamus Coleman (captain), Ben Godfrey, Michael Keane, Lucas Digne; Andros Townsend, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Allan, Anthony Gordon; Alex Iwobi; Richarlison

LIV playing XI (probable): Alisson Becker (goalkeeper); Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk; Andrew Robertson; Jordan Henderson (captain), Fabinho, James Milner; Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane

SportsAdda will bring you Everton vs Liverpool live score.

The 2020-21 Premier League season will go down as one of the most unpredictable campaigns in years, with nine different clubs sitting atop the points table at various points. Manchester City, who were as low as 11th in November, turned things around and are on course to win their fifth league title.

Often not, the greatest of title races have a shift in dynamics in the second half of a season. As recent as the 2018-19 campaign, City's 2-1 win over Liverpool at the start of 2019 opened up the title race, and the Sky Blues went on to lift their fourth crown, as they won 16 of their 17 games to topple the Reds.

That fixture is a title-defining result but simply not the greatest in this list of games that dramatically changed the course of a title race in past Premier League campaigns.

Liverpool 4? Newcastle United (1995?6 season)

The 1995-96 season is remembered for two things: Newcastle United squandering their 12-point lead in the title race to Manchester United and the other being Kevin Keegan's "I love it" rant aimed at then-Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Nicknamed as 'The Entertainers', the Magpies were in thorough command of the Premier League, but as they approached matchday 26, the countdown to their surprise downfall kicked in motion. Newcastle secured a 2-1 win at Middlesborough on matchday 25, but they lost five of their next eight fixtures, including a 0-2 loss to Arsenal that saw Kevin Keegan's men surrender the top spot for the first time in the 1995-96 season.

The next fixture, rated as one of the greatest Premier League games of all time, was the final nail in the coffin as Liverpool's 4-3 win paved the way for Manchester United to take the lead in what was a one-sided title affair. Roy Evans' Reds took an early lead through Robbie Fowler in the second minute but trailed by 2-1 at half-time, with Les Ferdinand and David Ginola-Ceze finding the net in the 10th and 14th minute.

Within 12 minutes of the second half, Newcastle took the lead away from Liverpool once again as Faustino Asprilla cancelled out Fowler's 55th-minute strike with a 57th-minute goal. Just as Newcastle was set for a much-need victory, English striker Stan Collymore struck twice in the 68th and in stoppage time to send the Anfield faithful into a frenzy.

While this result dampened Newcastle's title hopes, Manchester United - leading the standings - had to wait until the campaign's final fixture to be crowned champions.

Manchester United 4-4 Everton (2011-12 season)

In the 2011-12 season, the Premier League saw the rise of Manchester's Blue side and the downfall of an erstwhile dynastic United. The Red Devils' error-ridden campaign was something of a shocker for fans who followed their 20-year journey in the Premier League - they never conceded four or more goals twice at home in a single league season.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men came into the tie five points clear of noisy neighbours Manchester City, and a win against Everton would put them a step closer to an unprecedented 20th English league title. However, the Toffees had a surprise in store, which would unsettle the reigning champions for the remainder of the campaign.

After 30 minutes of a tug-of-war for converting goalscoring opportunities, Everton took the lead in the 33rd minute through  Nikica Jelavic before Wayne Rooney equalized in the 41st minute. By the 69th minute, Manchester United led 4-2 with goals from Danny Welbeck, Nani, and Rooney (second of the game) apart from Marouane Fellaini's 67th-minute goal for the visitors.

Complacency overshadowed the United defence as they conceded twice in the final ten minutes of the game and finished at 4-4. The result meant City could go equal on points with their neighbours on the points table, with a win on the next matchday. At the end of the campaign, Roberto Mancini's men were declared champions based on a superior goal difference.

Liverpool 0-2 Chelsea (2013-14 season)

If there is a single campaign that Liverpool fans will strongly want to avoid, it will be the 2013-14 season where an infamous 'Gerrard slip' cost them the title.

Brendan Rodgers' men were unbeaten in the last 16 games in the league since January 1, 2014, but a costly error from Steven Gerrard - who miscued a Mamadou Sakho pass and then slipped - allowed Demba Ba to run unopposed and score Chelsea's first goal past Simon Mignolet.

The Liverpool captain tried to make amends with a couple of goal attempts, but sadly it didn't meet the target. The Reds, who were showcasing a better attacking intent than Jose Mourinho's Chelsea, couldn't make a solid breakthrough past the stubborn defence, and despite the introduction of Daniel Sturridge, the Merseysiders were still short of finding the net.

Their frustration grew deeper as former Red Fernando Torres broke clear of the Liverpool defence and set up Willian for the second goal. With the 2-0 win, Chelsea moved within two points of the Reds and blew the title race open.

Manchester United took a massive hit in their Premier League title challenge after Carlo Ancelotti's Everton managed to hold the Red Devils to an exciting 3-3 draw. The Toffees, in fact, drew the game through Dominic Calvert-Lewin in what was the final kick of the game.

Ole Gunnar-Solskjaer's men started slow, but went into a 2-0 lead inside 20 minutes. Edinson Cavani opened the scoring through a fantastic header off Marcus Rashford's cross and then came the moment of magic. Receiving the ball on the edge of the penalty box, roughly 20 yards from goal, and lobbed in a fantastic curling ball into the back of the net. The ball went over Everton keeper Robin Olsen and Fernandes got his 13th goal of the season.

The Portuguese international has been at Manchester United for just over a year and has scored 21 league goals already. Bruno Fernandes stats have been unbelievable, to say the least. Since his debut in the league, only Liverpool's Mohamed Salah has scored more goals than the Manchester United midfielder.

While it wasn't the kind of result he and his Manchester United teammates were hoping for, the midfielder was rightly praised on the social, and especially by the former United striker Robin van Persie, who wrote, "Bruno Fernandes ladies & gentleman. What a joy to watch him play! Just wondering... how many goals for RvP with him in midfield."
