5 women's lacrosse players who could win the 2025 Tewaaraton Award

Final 2:30 of BC-Northwestern women's lacrosse title game nail-biter

The 2025 NCAA women's college lacrosse season kicks off on Feb. 7. Last year, Northwestern's Izzy Scane took home the sport's most prestigious individual accolade — the Tewaaraton Award. Scane, the 2023 and 2024 winner, has since graduated, leaving the 2025 race wide open.

Here are five DI women's lacrosse players — in no particular order — that could take home the trophy in 2025.

Madison Taylor, Northwestern

Taylor led the Wildcats in points last season, tallying seven more than Scane. Taylor, Scane and Erin Coykendall each had 100-plus points for Northwestern in 2024, but Scane and Coykendall both graduated. Even with the two stars by her side, Taylor finished sixth nationally in points per game (5.52). Without Scane and Coykendall, Taylor will have an even bigger role in the Wildcat's attack, making her a leading candidate for the 2025 Tewaaraton Award.

Rachel Clark, Boston College

Clark led the Eagles in goals (78) and points (101) during their 2024 championship run. She returns to BC for her second season after transferring from Virginia after her sophomore year. Clark will once again be the focal point of the reigning champions' attack as the Eagles search for their third title in five years.

Chase Boyle, Loyola Maryland

Chase Boyle Loyola women's lacrosse

Boyle, a 2024 Tewaaraton finalist, returns to Loyola for her senior season. She is coming off a breakout 2024 campaign where she tallied 85 goals, good for second in the nation behind Scane's 88. She is the Greyhounds' X factor, leading her team in goals while averaging 9.9 draw controls per game last season. Boyle will power the Loyola offense as it searches for its first title in program history.

Shea Dolce, Boston College

Leading the reigning champs in net, Dolce will try to become just the second women's goalie to take home the prestigious trophy. She was the ACC goalkeeper of the year last season, posting a 47% save percentage. Dolce played a pivotal role in the Eagles' title run, stepping up when the lights were the brightest, and they will rely on her again in their pursuit of back-to-back titles.

Fallon Vaughn, Yale

Vaughn is a true Swiss army knife at midfield for the Bulldogs, posting 55 points, 53 draw controls and 26 caused turnovers in 2024. Yale is coming off a historic season, making the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2007 after winning the Ivy League. The Bulldogs have high expectations as a top-10 preseason team, and Vaughn will once again lead Yale at midfield in her senior season.
